We are building a resilient and sustainable future with Ecocivilisation – meeting in Novi Sad
“Ecocivilisation is not just an idea – it is a living network of people, communities and organizations that care and share a vision of progress measured not only by economic growth, but also by well-being, the vitality of nature and the quality of our mutual relationships. At its core lies the ancient wisdom of wholeness – bold in vision, urgent in action.”
On Thursday, August 21, 2025, the Startit Center in Novi Sad became a space where people eager for change, learning and joint action met. Citizens, educators, entrepreneurs and artists who want to explore and develop Ecocivilisation – a movement that combines wisdom, responsibility and cooperation, and which grows from the heart of each individual and community – have gathered in one place.
Ecocivilisation is not just an idea – it is a living network of people, communities and organizations that care and share a vision of progress measured not only by economic growth, but also by well-being, the vitality of nature and the quality of our mutual relationships. At its core lies the ancient wisdom of wholeness – bold in vision, urgent in action.
The movement invites us to rethink how we live, how we relate to each other and to the environment, and how through joint engagement we can contribute to a more resilient and sustainable world. In a time where short-term interests, resource exploitation and social fragmentation dominate, Ecocivilisation offers an alternative: an evolution based on cooperation, compassion and collective responsibility. The principles of circularity, regeneration, ethics and integrity become guides for creating social and ecological systems that nurture the life and value of every being.
How is Ecocivilisation developing in Serbia?
In Serbia, the movement is being built through the citizens’ association Ekocivilizacija Srbija/Ecocivilisation Serbia, which brings together different generations and provides space for the exchange of ideas, development of projects and initiatives that contribute to society. The team focuses on empowering individuals and communities, creating collaborative networks and fostering collective consciousness. The association’s mission is for people to find a safe space to share their dreams and visions, and to connect in transformative actions that change the community and the environment.
The founder of the movement, Violeta Bulc, points out that Ecocivilisation is not a rigid structure with formal leadership, but a living movement that grows from the heart of each individual and community, with the principles of care, connection, balance, responsible management, integration of wisdom and innovation, and integrity in action.
Nature as a teacher
One of the central elements of the movement is the connection with nature and the practical application of philosophy in everyday life. Nature is not just a place for plants and animals – it is a metaphora for a society where we learn how to nurture relationships, share resources and learn from mistakes. Every plant, animal and human has its purpose, and working together becomes education, culture and the practice of responsible living. Nature teaches us patience: nothing truly valuable happens quickly.
Mental health and leadership – the focus of 2025
This year, Ecocivilisation emphasizes the importance of mental health and leadership. Individual strength, the ability to care for oneself and others, and communication skills become the foundation for building a resilient society.
The “Communication without waste” workshop, led by Branislava Simović, provided participants with practical tools for energy conservation and channeling, rational use of resources, and fostering communication and relationships in everyday life. Through interactive exercises, the participants learned how to apply the principles of Ecocivilisation not only in their professional life, but also in their personal life – with family, colleagues and the community.
Vision and inspiration
The movement invites us to rethink our decisions, redefine relationships and take responsibility for our shared space – from the local community to the planet. Ecocivilisation reminds us that we are the creators of the changes we want to see, and that through collective awareness and cooperation we can create a civilization in which life is valued and nurtured.
This is not an overnight story. The process is like the growth of bamboo: it takes time to build roots, and when the rhizome develops, new life appears. Ecocivilisation is the root that is being built today, so that future generations have the ground on which they can grow and develop in harmony with nature, society and themselves.
A call to the community
We invite everyone – citizens, educators, entrepreneurs, artists, philosophers and policy makers – to step into their highest consciousness, renew their relationships with others and with the Earth, and together create a civilization that provides hope, resilience and quality of life for future generations.
Ecocivilisation reminds us: we are the ones we’ve been waiting for, and the right time for action, transformation and responsibility is right now.
